A spectacular transformation from ailing operation to successful provider of housing for happy tenants has earned Homes in Sedgemoor a UK Customer Experience Award.

The arms length management organisation, which manages homes on behalf of Sedgemoor District Council, won Gold in the Best Customers at the Heart of Everything – Transformation for Success category at the recent Wembley Arena event.

Their presentation told how the organisation faced crisis just three years ago, when their Board faced a no confidence vote by tenants, along with top level resignations and a high staff turnover rate.

However, a new ‘customer first’ initiative that led to full engagement with tenants saw fortunes quickly change for the better. A spokesperson said: “Homes in Sedgemoor really are all about the people – our customers, our colleagues, and our partners. We are all one team focused on delivering incredible services and achieving the best possible outcomes. For customers to love an organisation, the colleagues that work there must also love it; engaged, motivated individuals deliver better services.

Meanwhile, the Silver winner in the Best Customers at the Heart of Everything – Transformation for Success category was Involvement Packaging.
